About 15%. Most of that is due to longer linesets. Once in awhile, a short one.

intstalled a new Trane unit today, lost all respect for their residential units. Charge was too low, no knockouts for the new gas line on the furnace, and the lines frome the acoil weren't plugged, but had brazed on caps that would NOT come off, so I had to cut them off!

I superheat all of my new installations and add freon as needed in all of my installations.
If Im installing a unit in the winter, I will weigh in my freon according to the line set chart given with the manufacturers spec sheet.

our company mandates all new installs must be superheat/subcool balanced. we even do cold weather charging. if you ever want to know how to do it, search the thread in here on it. it might be a pain but it cuts down on the "it doesnt seem to be cooling just right" calls at 2am.

You cant cut corners with the 410a. Every single condenser set gets checked and adjusted per subcool/MFG.

For me its more like 90%, the ones with longer linesets than factory charged for and the ones that are build up. I dont do any residential.
