Just wondering short cuts my name is extremely highly reputable in the area...and no its not andeeznuts..
Apparently once you ran into an issue with the unit not working, it has now become a job a monkey can't do.

If you wired the new thermostat wrong you could have blown the transformer, you are troubleshooting the system by replacing parts, you are in over your head now.

It is very well possible that you did not cause the problem with the A/C but because you are the last one to work on it, it is now your baby.

You could have also nicked or cut a thermostat wire while doing the blind monkey job.

What state are you in?

Don't they require an HVAC license to do ductwork?

In Tampa we would have to pull a permit to even add a duct, or any ductwork.

I mean....look at your desperate thread title....how many exclamation points do you really need? Apparently, all of them.
So you got the "apparent answer".

Yeah, well YOU don't get to make the decision.
I do.

I decided not to go post in the gardening section.
Maybe you should go visit the DIY Forum?
It's what you really need.
Trust me.
I know these things.

No need to have to swallow your pride and thank me ~ it's a given.

As a matter of fact I do, it is the law here.

I can also troubleshoot an A/C without going on a website.

What state do you live in, do you have a contractors license?

Re: No Power To Thermostat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The blind monkey comment was in-appropriate especially seeing as this is now your baby, and you are looking for help. Putting that aside, I would check for a blown fuse on the control board (small purple looking thing that you see in automobiles). Hopefully, thats all it is. If it's burned out, replace it and either inspect it on your own, or get a local guy to inspect the cause of the blown fuse.

It's possible that dumb-luck arised.

I wouldn't know.

Every State has different requirements for construction/remodeling.
In NJ, for example...the duct job might not require a permit, but the removing/replacement of the sheetrock might ~ depending on the amount removed/installed.

Give respect...get respect...

There's no such thing as a coincidence. My guess: you replaced the thermostat with the power on and cross two wires you shouldn't have...

Three questions that if answered could have told you the problem.

Your responses in the mean time have been very telling.

(And professionals don't around "touching wires together" to figure out if things have power...)

Re: No Power To Thermostat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This reminds me of the tech support joke...

Some person calls tech support all in a tizzy...
Person: My computer doesn't work !!!!!!!!!!!!11
Tech: Is it plugged in?

....or the other bumble fork that calls in...

Yea, ummm....tech support?
Tech support, how can I help?
umm, my mouse seems to have gone off the page, how can I get it back?

While it may seem obvious to some of us....
It is certain that morons are all over the place.....
messing up their computers....
driving their cars into inanimate objects....
trying to feed the lions at the zoo....
holding their babies over the balcony
working on things they have no business touching....
etc.

So until proven that one is not a moron, it must be assumed one is a moron.
