Why are not moving in for 5 to 10 years? If you are going to rent it out for some period I would use the best I could afford maybe even higher seer. If it going to take you that long to build, I would wait to see what else maybe better may be on the market in the future.

Might be a little outta my legue on this one, not a builder but I would go with something proven rather than the newest and brightest thing on the market.
Just 'cause it ani't the newest piece on the shelf don't mean it won't work. Something that's beeen around a while will have the bugs worked out or at least potential problems will have surfaced.

Hands down the best unit out there today is the G61V by Lennox, And I am sure you can get a local Lennox dealer to sit down with you and tell you why it is the best.

Hi national

The proven performer and innovators of high performance is Carrier.
Take a look at their Infinity lineup and I bet you will find the answer you are looking for. I have the MVP furnace in my house and is a very high performance low maintenance piece of equipment. No matter what company you choose, as long as you do your homework upfront, You will be pleased with your purchase.

Good luck
Rusty

Re: New House ..which Unit???

Thanks for all the replies..I know Ive heard alot of good with carrier...
paul b>> i meant im gonna stay there about 5-10 years..hopefully move in the end of summer..
coolmen>> no I didnt do a load calculation..friend of mine does heat & air for a long time & I know everyone does things different so he figured it is way..always done good for me in the past..only thing I didnt like so far is I have a 13'6 tall 24 x24 bonus room & we have 4 6inch vents in the ceiling with 4x10 grills..I thought it atleast needed bigger grilles but he said a 4x10 grille can blow 125cfm & the 6inch pipe is only good for 100cfm so...does this sound right?
