Negative Pressure Problems
We are suppose to install pool equipment for an indoor pool in a mechanical room just off the swimming pool area indoors. The pool and mechanincal room are heated with radiant floor heat and a closed combustion boiler.
The problem is....besides the dehumidification unit they have, they also have an exhaust unit that is in place to keep constant negative exhaust pressure on the pool building to keep moisture from penetrating the strcture and keep the concentration of corrosive chemicals to a minimum. The pool equipment includes a heater that is open combustion. I see a definate back draft problem here. If we bring in fresh air, they will lose the negative pressure. I don't see any way to make this work. Any suggestions? |

Re: Negative Pressure Problems
I guess an option would be to build a wall in the mecanical room where the pool equipment goes and seal it off from the rest of the area(negative pressure area).
Then fresh air inlet wouldn't be problem. Not sure if this will work with the space. We'll have to go back and take a look at the space. |

Re: Negative Pressure Problems
Come to think of it, I don't see any reason the whole mechanical room couldn't be sealed off from the pool room. It should only take a good exterior door. Maybe I'll see what they think of the idea since no door is in place yet, I have no idea what is planned to be used.

Re: Negative Pressure Problems
Hi Viper
I would have to side with mdshunk on this one. The only other option would be to find a closed combustion pool heater. I am not sure if the Dunkirk Q95 can be used for this application or not. It is one of the few boilers that is sealed combustion. Good luck Rusty |
