Mercury switch disposal ??

While cleaning up basement, I came across a couple of old thermostats that I no longer need.

How does one dispose of the mercury switches properly?

TIA

-Bill

Well I used to use the mecury for my "special" .45 reloads, but nowadays I just drop them off at a supply house, they take them for recycling.

Thanks guys,

I'll have to call the local supply house and see. Our town hasn't had a hazardous waste day in YEARS. We're still feeling the effcts of a governor who who cut back on necessary services so he could run for president on the platform he did not raise taxes.

(oooops sorry, didn't mean to add that political dig, but hey, he just dug himself a place to lay his head <G>)

city...

The city takes them here, year round. They have a truck that parks in different spots around the city and you can drop off almost anything. call your landfill, they should know.

Save them for your Earth Day celebrations, and smash them in a storm gutter.

The other option is to sprinkle them on an organic farm patch, but that would just be wrong.
