Looking for an efficient Wall-Mount Air Conditioner

Hey guys,

H.O. is stumped in looking for a wall-mount A/C vented out to the exterior. The wall on which it's to be installed is a dormer roof. I don't know enough HVAC guys IRL and am not experienced enough to effectively start my search!

I'm just looking for a few links or manufacturer names, the rest should be cake!

Like a window unit? Try Home Depot/Lowes but you'll need to wait until spring.

You mean the ductless mini splits?

Take the window A/C idea, and put it through a wall. We're installing the H.O.'s dream window in the room and they've made it clear they don't want an A/C hangin' out of it!

Mini-split's are ductless and don't need to be vented. Manufacturer's range from Mitsubishi to Daikin, all the rest is cake!

It is called a "Sleeve Unit".

There are "Rear Vent" and "Side Vent".

The first and foremost question is the BTU need?!?!?!?!?

Determine the CUBIC Volume of the space being Cooled, then Multiply by 4.5 as a starting point.

A "Sunny Exposure", increase the Multiplicand. A "Shady Exposure", reduce the Multiplicand.

Malco, what is this?

Sleeve unit meaning P-TAC? I'm not sure that I'm familiar with what you are refering to. Would love to learn more!

Sleeve is what is found ALL OVER NYC. It is a "box" that is permanently mounted "Through-the -Wall" and accepts a Unit that is next-to-naked.

A unit that generally has no Casing.

Some DO have casings!!!

This is what the "Sleeve" looks like...........

THANKS MALCO! That's exactly what I'm looking for. It's just one of those "good luck finding me if you've no idea what I'm called" objects. I need around 8-9,000 BTU. I think I can take it from here though.

Thanks for the help, you are kick-ass.

8-9K BTU/h is not all that much. A larger unit will do less work and be MORE efficient! IF it has, and it should have, a Higher EER!
