Lennox HP29 Control Board Anyone Blowing Fuses?

I have an hp29 in a MH. (coleman AH 15kw 1998 vintage) The origonal tf was bad. When I replaced it I put a 3a fuse inline on the sec. side as a precaution. What I've got is an intermittent short to ground. This problem usually only lasts a few seconds (enough to blow the fuse) then returns to normal. It may run 30 min or all day. The darn thing will not stay shorted long enough to troubleshoot. A Manual defrost has not affected it. We have worked the thermostat wires with our hands and all the low voltage wires at the equipment. (Lets pretend its not the wiring for now).... My question is; has anyone had a hp29 control board cause a short? BTW this is a DEAD short not fluctuating and will sap the low voltage to 0. This problem seems to goes away in Em. heat. mode. tia

Hi crmont

Have you put a temporary thermostat on there to see if it is having trouble when you call for auxillary heat?. I would say its not in your heat pump but more likely to be in a sequencer, its probably only blowing the fuse when it needs a little electric boost. Or it could be in the heat anticipator for auxillary heat.

Good luck
Rusty
