Indoor Dryer Vent Bucket

I have a, (potential) client that has asked me to rough in some plumbing for a washer and dryer ont the second floor of their house. Fair enough. When I asked about venting the dryer, they said they were just going to go with "one of those indoor water bucket vent things".

Okay, HVAC is not my specialty, but to me this is wrong on so many levels, HUMIDITY being the worst of it. And what if the bucket dries out? Lint in the air? Fire? Will their insurance cover that, (considering that I don't believe interior buckets are code).

So, I need your opinion. Are these things okay? If so, I won't push them to vent the dryer outside. But if they aren't I need to convince them.

It's 105 year old house, so drilling through the brick won't be the hassle I think they believe it to be.

Thanks
Chris

Gas dryers must be vented to the outdoors. I know of no exceptions.

Contact your local code official (plumbing or mechanical) and talk it over with them. Don't mention where its going. Ask them their take on it.

If you do this job, use a contract, and state in the contract that you will not be running the dryer vent at all.

If they decide to take the vent outside (where it belongs, IMHO), write a change order.
