I Neec A Second View Point On This

I 've started on my 2nd sub-division for this GC and i told him that i would prefer that the hvac mech contractor make his own final landing in the furnace and cond.unit, i would provide the disco and sw. box

Well the hvac mech. contractor reported back to me that is not something hvac contractor are not normally responsible for doing.

So my question is real simple on new constr. what doyou guys leave for the sparky's to do thank you

Not a sparky and we don't do new construction, but the one question I have I think is an important one.

What does your contract say about this?

If nothing, then treat it as a change order and charge him for the connection. If its specifically addressed, then I'm afraid its all on you, but, the contract with have the last word.

the only onnections that i make are low voltage, all line voltage connections are made by the electrican, and the electrican pulls all wires (low and high)

In days gone by, I was a sparky for several years and we always had to wire the high voltage. That included everything from source power to the unit, wire, disconnect, and wire the unit itself. We never pulled any of the low voltage to the units. We did a favor for a HVAC con. one time and wired the low voltage to save him a trip back out and we got in hot water from the inspection dept. by not having a HVAC license to do the low voltage.

That being said, I'm sure that every jurisdiction is different and each location different things are expected from each sub.

In NC we typically wire in from the disconnect.

I'm a sparky and depending on what contractor we're working for and what arrangement we have with the ac guy, we'll do whatever they want. If we're wiring a 4000 sq. ft. custom, its a drop in the bucket to run some 5 wire and make connections. If they want to do the LV, have at it, one less thing to worry about.

In fl. the electrician wires the units up "high voltage only" 120-240 and so on we the ac guys do the low voltage stuff on start-up.

NEC does not have any specifics on who does or does not wire a hvac system. It would come down to the specifications given by the architect in the plans under electrical or mechanical. If not specified then what ever is mentioned in the contract would be honored by the responsible.
