HVAC School

hello everyone. i have a quick question to ask.i am currently going to school for HVAC. my question that i have is what type of service calls do you normally run into. i hear that it is mostly electrical problems. also what about sheetmetal work. the school that i am going to doesnt teach sheet metal work. do companys normally do there own sheet metal work when doing new installs or do they sub it out. i have seen alot of the elephant trunk (the flexible hose stuff) but i heard that it cant be more than a 10' run. i just want to make sure that i am getting the most out of this program. thanks

and poke around. You will get a good flavor for whats going on (at least amongst those participants). Seems like its all over the place. On top of that it also gives me the impression that crappy work and less than professional attitude is alive and well (IMHO).

Strive to do 'wall of pride' work, rather than 'wall of shame' work'

As to the flex pipe. Its probably region dependent. Here in my area its common to see runs 30' or more on main return and also feed lines. Tin knockers seem to be a rarity on residential construction on houses less than 400K$. Its all big flex to a distribution plenum with smaller flex to the registers from that.
