Hvac Lover

You don't mind if I call you Clover do you? or H.L? I just feel strange calling you lover.

Anyways, I was just curious to know what is it really like in Detroit. Our city was dependent on Micron, Albertson's and HP. now they are tanking. Similiar, but different, so I am curious, are there a lot of people without work? I think we are at about 8% un-emloyment.

In California, there are a lot of industries. From what I believe (and I certainly could be wrong), the Detroit area is all automotive/ all eggs in one basket. That's why I was curious what are things really like. There are a lot of people asking me for work. I wish I could hire some extra people.

Re: Hvac Lover

I can understand how Joe Blow is worried weather (s)he will have a job in the next few months, but what about the people with money, are they real nervous as well? Around here, it's getting quite hard to find people who are willing to go beyond the cheapest route possible. "Just make it do for now" has always been prevailant, but now, it seems as though it's a mantra.

How are most contractors doing? How about the hvac contractor? Several outfits here have shut down as they were dependent on new construction.

Re: Hvac Lover

What percentage of your work is service vs. installs. I always prefer service because one can get in and out and get paid. So many outfits were dependent on installs. During these times, service is definately the focus. When will summer come?
