How not to do a retrofit dryer vent
Although I like this product, I can not believe they posted this picture on their website.
dryerbox.com/photo_gallery/Digital/18.htm
Was going to post the actual picture, but they have a little blurb at the top that made me think the moderators might not want me to.

Just shows anyone can do it. Now we need the same guy to run some gas pipe and some 240v and some 120v and get another picture.
i like the idea though. I always seem to need another 4 inches of space for the dryer. I have fabed something similar in the past.

Which comes first? Home collapse or fire?

Looks like it's up to code to me. As long as it's less then about 8 feet out from that last elbow. Isn't that one of the selling points of the dryer box, in situations where you are running out of allowable length like the one depicted, that it gives you an extra 5 feet by removing an elbow?

Now you're just get'n picky!
I think it's just the way that a camera adds 10 lbs to you, and makes notches look out of code.

I'm REALLY hoping that it's not a supporting wall!!
What goes into that big box? A coil of duct tube? Add 5' per elbo and I really hope that you are close to an exterior wall.

My bet is exterior wall, little bit of insulation still there, hopefully not a two story home. But then again, just cover it up with sheetrock and problem solved.
It really does make a laundry room look good though.

If this IS on an ext wall, I would really be concerned about condensation & heat loss.
uh, er, side exhaust on the dryer????
At least head this thing off instaed of the hack!!!!!!
Shame on whoever did this........

Holy crap, I can't believe they have that on their website. Assuming that's standard 4" dryer vent, the walls must be 2 x 6's, where else would you find 2 x 6's other than a exterior load bearing wall or a plumbing wall.

The phone jack says int. and the tile/whatever that is, maybe bath? But the insulation on the left says that dryer is in the garage or outside.

Nope. I'm just a sparky. Quite often I get saddled with dryer and bath fan venting. Don't do gas work, but that dryer box looks like a fine place to do the gas stub also. Certainly enough room, and the gas flex would coil back in there nicely.

Don't worry about it! The drywaller can fix that. We have all seen worse. It is only someones home, a place where children reside. And besides laundry is typically done while they sleep so they will not be disturbed while that corner of the house colapses on their half dried clothes. And lets not talk about the duct on the phone lines, that is not life threating. Love the abilty that you can paint this box to match the decore behind the dryer!!!!!
This is a picture of the buisness end of the same dryer vent, notice the small lint build up.
