Help - how to reduce noise at heating vent

Hi, installed an american standard freedom 80 comfort-r furance. (3 tons model aud080r9v3k ). This model is 2 stage and have a variable speed blower. The house is only 2,000 sq feet. Apparently, the vents of the house are too small. There are much noise coming out from the vent especially when the blower are at high speed. Also, the heating time is very long, it took almost 2 hours to hit up 3 degree celisus.

Question 1: How to reduce to vent noise? Can the blower motor be set to permanently low speed and how to do that?

Question 2: How to make the heating time shorter? 2 hours is quite long.

Thanks everyone.

the motor should show the hi and low speed wires...tape off the hi till spring you need the lo for the heating cycle so the air can pick up the heat more..it takes longer for air to heat(lo speed winter)up then cool down(hi during the summer)make sure the stat is auto system and auto fan for the low speed to run thru the heating call.

On your circuit board I am sure that there are 4 speeds for your blower.red is low speed leave that on heat terminal. The high blower speed should be black . Make sure that this is not on the heat terminal.

Hi j97chung

My first reccomendation is to do a true temperature rise. As you know if you raise the velocity above a certain point , not only is it noisy but it will not cary a good temperature differential. I will bet you can probably slow the blower down to an acceptable level. Use your magnahelic and do a total static and this will let you know where your blower is running.

Good luck
Rusty
