Heat Pumps

What are your thoughts about heat pumps. I am spending to much on fuel to heat the house this year and have some sheets on effiencies and heat pumps looks as though they cut it by about a 3RD every year. Is it smart to get this as a secondary type of heat for a house or what else do you recommend?

Heat pumps are indeed a good way to go but pick a quality unit and a reputable dealer who can size it correctly. I have had one for 7 yrs now and would not change

I have been in HVAC 4 years, I currently have a Goodman Heat Pump and love it. But I do recommend going with 14 seer equipment or 410A (called Puron by Carrier/Bryant). I recommend Goodman or Carrier/Bryant. Use a well know company even if it cost more, it's worth it in the long run. Most all 14 seer comes with 10 year parts warranty standard, ask the HVAC company to cover labor for 2 years on them, that's a good deal.

I hope this question doesn't sound stupid, but does the heat pump work with forced air systems, radiant systems, or are they their own heating sysytem?
thanks
