Goodman Not Cooling

Hi again

I am not an HVAc guy at all but I have a 6 month old Goodman heat pump with 8 rooms about 1200 sq feet, 10 39x55 double hung anderson windows, dark gray shingles, one 20x20 return in the hall, 6 inch flexible insulated ducting. The air handler and stuff are in the attic crawspace. I have 2 large Gabe vents, no fan, and soffitt venting as well. the house is 20 years old and the 200 sq ft addition was done this year. Every room in the house 2 ducts, and the extra room has 5 foot french doors leading into it.

The problem is during hot humid days in the 90's my house stays about 79 deg even with the digital lux stat set at 72...

Help me what is the problem ????

Re: Goodman Not Cooling

for a 6 run it takes 4 vents to equal 1 ton so 8 vents on a 6 run equals a 2 ton unit - are you saying you have 8 vents or 16 vents - did you add vents to the addition - the 2 ton unit can't support the addition

Re: Goodman Not Cooling

You never listed the sizing of your unit.

I'm afraid of having the same issue you are having when I have my unit installed. I hear lots of people complain about not cooling enough and not heating enough even though their unit was properly sized. It seems units are not sized for those few really hot or cold days of the year, in my opinion the most important days of the year. I'm actually thinking and wanting to force the issue of oversizing even though all the HVAC guys say this is the biggest mistake people make. I can already hear all the screams.

Have a great day,
Bob

Re: Goodman Not Cooling

Do you have the correct amount of insulation for your area? Are your windows insulated glass and do they seal properly when closed. If not bigger AC unit not correct fix.
