Going Up !!
I have a 900 sq. foot ranch that I want to double in size by going up.
The house is currently heated by oil FHA. I also have central air which would be nice to keep but I would be willing to sacrifice if it makes economical sense. A number of the walls on the existing level will be removed including ones with duct work. Those ducts can be put in the floor. The current furnace is about 20 years old. Central A/C about 10 years old. Looking for cost vs. value vs. ease of installation opinions. Replace with FHW ? Stick with current system and run new duct work up ? |

Re: Going Up !!
If your going up then your ducts will be coming down. Your most likely to do 2 zones for heat and a/c. Leave your current system alone and kill any attic feeds. Bring your new system into the attic or make a knee wall storage closet for new unit that will feed through a main trunk down through ceiling registers.
