Garage Furnace
Would like to put a furnace in my garage and have wondered about the different options I might have. Since I do both woodworking and work on the cars I want one that will be resonably safe with car or other flamable material in the garage. Haven't ever been fond of the hanging furnaces that are the usual so I have thought about a downdraft furnace setting high off the floor and pulling the hot air from around the cieling or one of the ventless heaters. Some of the heaters don't require electricity which could be nice if power would go out. Any ideas or thoughts of what I should be keeping in mind?

Re: Garage Furnace
If you are worried about fumes and vapors being an ignition hazard, you could go with a 90%+ unit that uses outside air for combustion and has a sealed burner box or even a small package unit that sits beside your garage with only the ductwork being inside the garage area. They also have small PTAC's ( Package Terminal A/C's) that are heat pumps and are like a large window unit you could mount through the wall. With the heat pump, you could get it without the electric strip heat. In any case, remember filters filters filters.
