Question Furnace blower question....

Can I manually turn on my blower in my gas furnace, so that I can circulate the air in my house with out any heat? I connected my wood burning stove that has an air jacket to the furnace iair supply. My stat has the red and white wires going to the funace, but the green wire in the furnace is not hooked to the stat. My stat is digital and has HEAT/OFF/AC switch, and a FAN ON/AUTO switch. i would like to be able to make the fan or blower turn on when ever i want it to. Is there a simple solution? Any help is much appreciated.

Just turn the fan swich to on. the motor is made to run continually. It won't hurt it.
I would be very leary of connecting your return to the jacket unless the manufacturer recommends it. If there are any leaks in the body of the unit, you could be setting yourself up for carbon monoxide poisoning or death. Is there any combustion air being introduced into the room or into the unit itself?
Jerry rigging something like this is dangerous. Be safe. Get an expert to look at it.

Shanon,
First, turn off the furnace before working with the themostat. You can blow a transformer or a board on some models. You will need at least 3 strand wire, but if you have to run new, get at least 5 strand for later needs. You will need at the stat - R to red, G to Green and W to White. You should find the same connections at the furnace. The way it works, is that the power comes from the furnace transformer on the red. The thermostat energizes the white on a call for heat and the green for the manual operation of the blower. Remember that running the fan is somewhat expensive on a regular furnace, so turn it off when you do not need it.
