Fire Dampers in 2 family house (New Jersey)

We are doing a new HVAC system in Hudson county in NJ for 2 family house. I haven't worked in that specific city for a long time (Jersey City) and building inspector asked us to put in fire dampers everywhere.

We've been doing HVAC in other counties and towns for a while and no one asks for fire dampers in single and 2 fam residential buildings. Has anyone been asked to do the same?

Jersey city Officials are kind of critical, but thecnically speaking, the pervious post is right, you do need it anytime you are penetrating a fire wall.

you only need a fire damper if the duct is open to both units. 26 ga duct gives you a 2 hour ratting, but you cant have openings in two envelope spaces without a fire damper.

But, local codes may very
