Fan Coil Unit Question?

This probably a dumb question, but they say the only dumb ones are the ones not asked.

When building in urban areas we often install FCU's that utilize City steam and chilled water. I am planning an addition to my house and was wondering if I could use FCU's for heat and AC. The hydronic system would be tapped for heat. Could the chilled water come from my well? It runs 54F all year and is 185 feet deep. The water is good, I recently tapped into a line for a new hose bib and found the inside of the 30 year old line spotlessly clean.

My thought was that I could dump the water back into the well or into a drywell after it had run through the FCU. Our demand for AC is minimal in this area, maybe ten days over 85F, but the humidity can be brutal since we are close to the shore.

Any thoughts on this?

Re: Fan Coil Unit Question?

seen all types in Manhattan with steam on top....2 pipe....4 pipe...heat pumps...DX cooling with air cooled condenser and like yours....HW,chilled water 2 pipe/one coil.the chilled water from the mechanical systems deliever 45F water to the FCU to make a 70F room setpoint, what your pumping is almost considered return chilled water.how about a small inline chiller to get that drop in temp......with a 54F return won't take much.
