Duct cleaning questions

The air conditioning has been installed in my ranch style for about 20 years. I'd like to have the ductwork cleaned. I did a little investigation last year and found there are a few different ways to clean the ducts.
Is there one system that is better than another?
Anything else or questions I should be asking when I hire someone to do this?
Thanks.

don't use rotobrush scams

I would look for a company that will hook up an 8 to 10" hose to the trunks. then connect the other end to a gas powered air handler with a giant collection bag outside. this will put your ductwork into a negative draft. then they will run some hoses connected to an air compressor that have a selection of octopus looking attachments to agitate the dust so it is sucked right out into the collection bag.

if you're going to do it, do it right. get the sanatizer it's worth it.

out in chicago it'll run from 3 to 4 hundred, but anyone cheaper is just giving you a show.

also, ask if they offer a before and after video inspection.

You may consider replacing all the branch ducts with flex duct. As mentioned earlier, many companies don't do a very thorough job. With new ducts, you know it's "virgin" clean and you would have the benefit of having your duct work insulated, thus a more efficient heating system
