Creating a Closet for an Oil Burner

Hi,

I am refinishing my basment and would like to create a closet for my oil burner. I was told by a friend that the walls need to be at least 18 inches from each side of the burner. I would also like to install a door. Not sure if it needs to be a fire proof door, etc.

I am concerned that my oil service folks have enough room to work on the burner whould the need arise.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Richie

I think you want to keep a few feet on the left side thats where it is serviced and maybe a foot in front of. The walls and door do not have to be fire proof.
The best thing for you to do is call up the company that services it and ask them.

you can have an outdoor air kit installed by your oil co. that will also help with your oil consumption, because of a better burn with outside air as far as clearences go see manufacturers specs or local codes because there are strict guide lines. depending on the appliance the clean out covers can be on any side better off asking your tech. or oil co.
