Compressor

Does anyone make an outside compressor that services two coils inside? Customer has two separate systems inside, and wants the outside units to take up as little space outside as possible. I'm wondering if any manufacturers make a unit with two compressors inside. Thoughts?

Re: Compressor

Yes, it is know as "twining", one compressor and two indoor units. Contact your HVAC contractor and he shouldn't have any problem getting you set up.

Re: Compressor

It's done all the time with refrigerated display cases, but to pull it off in resi, it takes a contractor with his head screwed on straight. Capacity control is important, and using a 2-stage compressor will really help.

Re: Compressor

Lennox and Carrier have commercial grade equipment (actually, Trane as well) which have two compressors with one condensor coil. A setup like that may serve your needs, but these units take up a lot of space about 1.5 cubic yards. Are you doing this to save space? I agree, that you want to make sure you have someone who is up to the challange.
