Re: Chimney?

You need to check with the local fire department or mech. code official.

Re: Chimney?

Even if it passes code - I would get it cleaned & inspected by a professional before starting the first fire

Re: Chimney?

how old is the chimney?
does the liner run the length of the chimney?
what is the size and how high does it extend above the roof?
what is the flue size on the new furnace?

Re: Chimney?

I think its legal if its sized correctly, clean with no cracks, missing mortar or obstructions inside the flue. An inspection will definitely be required for an appliance use change.
