Carrier 58MVP Questions

We have the 58 MVP that is making a "whirring or winding up" noise and it's coming from the inducer motor...is this comon or is this a sign of it about to go? Also, we purchased this unit used from a local Carrier dealer who has since gone out of business. He told us he set it to the low settiing and if we felt, after using it, tht we wanted it set tot he high or automatic setting to let him know..well he's gone..is this something I can do myself or does a tech have to do it? Thans for any help.

thats a dc set-up.If the noise your talking about sounds like a jet taking off.Thats all folks....good luck
