Boiler information

Hi everyone

I have been working on some Burnham boilers for the Post Offices in our area. There complaint had been that every time someone had come to work on it, they could reset the igntion failure and the boiler would run for a couple of days. When we were finally called in on this they were getting ready to have the boiler changed out. I convinced them to give me one chance, If I couldn't fix it they didn't owe me anything. This particular boiler is equipped with a Power Flame burner head. These are a very simple and reliable buner assembly. So I tore into it to see if the cad cell was cracked or shorted, cad cell looked to be brand new. I'm guessing it was replaced before I got there. I pulled the pilot assembly out thinking they had forgot to check it for obstructions. Pilot was clean, so I decided to pull spark rod out to see if the porcelin was cracked on it. When I went to pull the spark wire out to seperate the rod from the porcelin, the ignitor wire fell apart. I guess the information I am trying to pass on is very seldom do big things break, dont overlook the obvious.

Good luck to all my fellow Techs.
Rusty
