Bathroom Fan In Basement
There are quite a few obstacles in the way of where the fan in the bathroom is and where it can get out the side of the house.
Am I reccommended to use flexible duct in order to run the fan outside. Looking at the information on a few vents it says vinyl dryer tubing is allowed, but that doesnt seem right to me. Is metal the thing to use and is insulated tubing better for noise reduction or any other purpose? Thanks for help. |

Re: Bathroom Fan In Basement
You can use flex to run the duct, make sure at least the first 4' from the outside wall is insulated. Your in a cold zone.

Re: Bathroom Fan In Basement
Ran across two situations recent on two different jobs:
1) While repairing a sagging floor on the main level, we had to remove some drywall from a partially finished basement. The flexible duct for the bathroom fan was simply stuck down into one of the stud cavities. 2) As part of a master bath redo on the second floor, we added a steam shower so we added another bath fan to handle the steam. I went into attic to run the ductwork and discovered that original builder had nailed the flex duct for 3 bathroom fans to the rafters leaving them vented to the attic space. Why o why are these things done?
