Question

Air Conditioner/Furnace Blower Wont Start

Hello,

At my house we have a fairly old (1986 or so) Luxaire Heating and Air Unit. Just two days ago the unit started making a weird noise while running, so naturally mom shut it down. Now, today, when you try to turn it back on it hums and buzzes real loud then turns itself off, then trys again. 2 or 3 times out of 100 it will kick on, run for a few mins. and then make the noise and we shut it down. The unit outside runs fine when the thermostat is kicked on.

My diagnosis is probably the blower motor itself? I replaced my uncles about 1 year ago with the same exact symptoms. The problem is I have no clue how to get to the blower. I believe it is on the bottom. I can get blower motors fairly cheap, so is it worth paying someone to come and do it? I would really like to do this the cheapest way possible, so if anyone has any ideas please email me.

Thanks,

Nick Kuhn
