AC Unit Ok To Use After Sitting?

Wondering about an AC unit. It was disconnected 2 years ago for construction purposes. This is for central air conditioning. I'd like to have it reconnected but I'm wondering if it is still ok to use after sitting so long unused and without coolant.

I usually don't post about my own stuff here, but thought the pros could help before I call in an AC guy.

Did they seal the line set cx when they disconnected it?

We had one recently that sat a year before being reconnected. They evacuated it really well and it was fine.

Re: AC Unit Ok To Use After Sitting?

Make sure you pull not only a deep enough vacuum but you put a oversized filter drier. if you closed the valves up but had no holding charge to displace the air in the unit the oil will be saturated with moisture.
And it will need a much longer evacuation than normal.

It is a R22 unit isn't it? If its R410a you will need to pull an evacuation and replace the drier a few times as POE oil in 410 systems absorb water and will not release it under vacuum.
