In a higher seer unit don't go with Goodman, they aren't very good. I would say any other unit you choose would be better.

I was under the assumption that the higher HSPF number was better for the heating side of the unit. Does any MFG make a high # HSPF with a lower # seer?
Any real numbers about payback to jump to the higher # seer models I can look up?

Thanks

A $300 tax credit applies for units with HSPF 9.0 , EER 13 and SEER 15.

What is the problem that Goodman equipment has which other brands do not have?

Depends on how much you use it and how much the power is.

British Columbia.. probably never. Not hot enough to use A/C much, among the cheapest power and too cold to rely on just heat pump. Here, a legally minimum efficiency A/C + high efficiency gas furnace would do.

TX, AZ, S. CA, Something to seriously consider.

Heat pumps are not a good solution in an area with a harsh winter. They're good for areas with mild winter and cost of electricity to run the heat pump is less than the cost of natural gas or if natural gas is unavailable.

You speak a lot of knowlege for a contract/negotiations guy Isn't the weather in Vancouver a lot like Seattle? Seattle is good hp weather. We visited Vancouver several times. We plan to go there for the olympics. But, I digress.
