What Was Wrong With Flat Extension Cords??

20+ years ago everyone who worked on pitched roofs knew to use flat extension cords because if you stepped on them they didn't roll. Seemed pretty logical and we were even starting to see some flatened air hoses. Then I guess OSHA banned flat extension cords. Anyone ever hear of the reason to require round cords on a roof??

They're banned? I've got a boatload of flat extension cords. News to me.

Well if anyone sees the grey cord with the red ends i'd like to buy a few. Best flat cord ever made. I don't see any flats on the shelves here.

Why do you keep them on the boat?

I don't own a boat, and can think of no good reason why a man should own one.

one is never enough, I personally have 4.
I guess everyone has to start with one.

BTW, all my nice yellow jacket ext cords are on my sailboat but I am far from having a boatload of them.

Interesting question. My first thought would be manufacturing costs.

I always liked them because they don't roll under foot, I guess that all of the new Neon colors are supposed to make up for that.

md, I thought that you were a blo-boter. With the beard, you resemble a 19th century captain.

Flat cords were not banned. It is almost impossible to find flat cords that carry the proper s ratings, meaning an inner and outer insulator.
