Re: Shot Nail Into Chest

Happened to me a while back 3" screw shank but it went into my stomach, so fast and so clean I didn't feel it.

I was helping to build my friend an outdoor bar, he went to get some lunch, I was framing out the bar... he got back and we sat down to have lunch and he goes "man you have a nail in your stomach" I looked down and there it was just the head sticking out and I just pulled it out...

The amazing thing is, not a speck of blood came out, we finished lunch and his wife insisted me going to the emergency room because I said everything is fine. While he was driving me there, she called and I guess she said: "Someone is coming with a nail in the stomach" because when we pulled up they were already waiting.

They grabbed me and took me right into the operating room, and started to cut my t-shirt, I mean everything was happening so fast that only after they cut my t-shirt open I said there is no nail, I pulled it out.
The funny thing is when the doctor asked me where did it hit, I couldn't point it out because there was no mark on it, not even a red spot.

So after a few cat scans and Xrays, Doc said that I was very lucky it didn't hit anything and I was shocked, you would figure a 3" nail going in would cause some sort of damage... I guess someone was looking out for me from up there

That guy is lucky to be alive. "...accidental nail firing..." That's why I don't allow bump nailers, only sequential.

My first response when hearing of this today:

"Pull it out and rub some dirt on it cupcake."
