safety nets
we are not a huge company, just myself and i hire a sub to help out. when needed we set up scaffold and run a plank between the 2 sections. our planks are only 16' long so i dont need the 22' werner safety net that connects from the walk plank to the "shelf plank". just wondering where i can buy a 16' long and 6' wide safety net. i have looked on the internet and found a few, but dont give any prices or sizes. i have mailed them and no replys as of yet. its been several days. or can i just make them myself and be osha safe? kubie

these guys can make anything you might need, they can also install grommets, so you can run a cable as you need to, and install the net with quicklinks http://www.incord.com/

I'm not sure I understand your application completely. Would'nt it be easier to but and aluminum plank that have gaurdrail supports already attached?? In my experience nets are generally a pain and the last option I look at.

Check out the Industrial ladder website. They have the Werner brand for about $270 and the Aluma-Pole brand for about $310, but they are 22 footers. I have not seen any 16 footers.
Still don't know why you couldn't just use a mid guard rail and a toe board.
Check out this OSHA PDF, and look at the pic on the first page.

I used the planks for the pipe scaffolding that had the post holes in them for guard rails and they were very simple to set up and safe to work with. I would think that offers better protection than a net.

we use a 16' plank between 2 sections of scaffolding, then another plank up 1 rung and pushed back a bit to make a shelf.
the railings would kind of be in the way
the contractor i used to work for has railings on a 32' long 20" wide plank and its really cramped
