What Type Of General Liability Insurance Do I Need??
I am a NYC based Low-Voltage contractor and IT Consultant. I am the only employee of my 2 year old company, though i frequently hire 1099s to do cable installations (which i assist on).
Am i considered an electrical contractor? Do i need some pricey GC insurance? Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! I've had a so many different quotes from insurance company's, i don't know who to believe! Last edited by cktech; 02-20-2008 at 12:13 AM. Reason: forgot notification options |

Re: What Type Of General Liability Insurance Do I Need??
Depending on how much work you sub out, (usually if less than 20%) you can simply get an artisan policy. If more than 20% in most cases you will be considered a GC and you will need to be insured as one and the price goes up heavily. Remember that anyone you sub to MUST be insured, and carry workers comp. Even if they are a sole prop and opt out, your liability policy will require that they have comp anyways.
