Rugged RG6??
I need to find some rugged RG6 CATV wire for our Sunday morning/ afternoon/ and evening Jets Stadium tailgates. We do the whole nine yards. Tent, propane heaters, satellite television (with the the NFL package of course), and of course oceans of beer and food to feed an army. It never fails that around this time of year though that the cable we use gets all messed up with kinks and whatnot. Is there anything on the market that can stand up to the abuse of setting up and tearing down 8 (hopefully 10), times a year?

? What are you doing with the RG6, they have a place to hook up at the stadium? How about wireless? If you need the cable hit up a cable installer for the outdoor cable they use for drops, buy him lunch, he'll give you all the cable you need, if you're cheap and live near a cable company they dump tons of the stuff, when the box runs low they dump it rather than run out on an aerial drop.

Mickey, we set up a generator -- 2000 watter made by Honda and it runs ultra, ultra quiet -- and run the cable from the dish to the cable box as you would in a home. We (I) even pre-drill holes and use Tap-Con screws to anchor the tent and the tripod (for the dish) into the concrete. It's a very hi-tech tailgate that's taken years to perfect. You don't know wind until you've experienced Meadowlands wind.

You can get some flooded RG6.. it tends to bend less. However if it heats up too much at the rear of the tv or box it will also melt on the inside. I like the cover idea up above, that'd help.
Another idea is just to take some thin pvc and put it together from your dish to your tv and run the cable through that. Harder to break and easy to disassemble. And whats more it is cheap!!!

How long a run are you using, and is the issue just from having to unroll and coil it back up each week, or from people walking on it? For safety reasons I can't imagine the dish is located far from the receiver. There are brands of RG6 that is as flexible as typical audio video cables. This would make it easy to use for this purpose, much like the cables a band would use while on tour, they have to be flexible to be easy to deal with.

I would consider purchasing a 1K foot roll of RG6 and replacing periodically...

Flooded RG6 (direct burial). It's pretty durable, and it has that "goo" inside of it that leaks out and supposedly seals the cable if it gets a nick in the outer sheathing. Plus, if it's hanging in the air, you don't have to worry about anyone getting clotheslined because they didn't see it (depending on their level of intoxication)

Elevator Coax
I like the idea of replacing the coax from time to time, but if that's not what you're looking for try elevator coax. The RG6 has a stranded inner conductor designed to stand up to years of constant movement.
I have only used this cable for elevator cameras, so I'm not sure what to do about the F connector. I would probably use a 3 piece BNC with a BNC to F adapter.
You can get the cable at a decent supply house. I get it at Effengee (F&G) in Chicago.

I appreciate all the different ideas fella's, thank you. I am going to look into both the flooded RG6 type and the elevator RG6. Either/ or seems like what I need.
thanks again.
