Residential Security Cameras

I want to install a cat5 camera system at a customers house. 5-8 ir color cameras outside and inside. I want the system to be visible on all the tvs in the house. I also want video recording for 48-96 hours. Does anyone have a quality brand and parts list for me.. I could really use the help. Thank guys!!!

Re: Residential Security Cameras

A cat5 system..

So you are looking to do IP cameras or video over baluns?

Are you going to run at least an 18g pair to it for power or try and do power over the cat5?

If doing IP cameras, AXIS or Panasonic. That's the quality stuff. But you are looking at at least $600 per camera plus an NVR. But you'll have a hard time getting those on the TVs.

If video cameras, Samsung or Panasonic. I like DigiMerge DVRs or GeoVision PC based solutions for larger installs. DigiMerge has a programmable out that you can tie into a video distamp to feed a video input on the TVs in the house.

I have not ever used their cameras but they look to be very versatile. If the quality is not there, (the stuff does not look heavy duty), at least you can get some ideas...

I do have some of their wireless remotes, they work great for the Christmas lights.

I just bought a load of stuff from Super Circuits for a similar project. They are on the web and you can call them for advice.

Re: Residential Security Cameras

A lot of variables here - day/night cameras or not, field of view, event triggering to record or always on, number of total FPS throughput, POE switch to power the cameras, housing type. We do not use anything but IP cameras any more, usually megapixel cameras instead of PTZ. Typical camera sales price is anywhere from $795 to about $2500, software runs about $1500 and standard per-drop cable install.

I just got "busted" looking at ****...

...but honey - they are selling security equipment....you want to know "Who lurks in the dark right?"

Our home could be over run with street walkers!

The Mrs. failed to see the humor.
I fail to see why x10 needs the sleaze to sell their product....and decided to not buy their cameras

Re: Residential Security Cameras

haha. you guys a re funny. x10 is crap. thats why they need sexy ladies to distract you. buy UPB devices if you wanna to home automation. I stopped using x10 ages ago and started using a company called controlscape for my landscape lighting controls www.controlscape.net.

no nudie ladies on this site.

Re: Residential Security Cameras

I also like the Panasonic cameras...

I have played with a few Swann systems. They have a few cheap kits with different camera options, they are a step above X10. Not bad for the money, but it really comes down to what you are using it for and what your expectations are.

Re: Residential Security Cameras

These "ladies" were not displayed on the page link I provided, and as I stated I don't know too much about their cameras, but have used some of the remotes they sell. And those work ok for me.

Now upon further inspection of the site.....I may just have to check out this "scratch and dent" sale......

Being a cctv specialist. I can tell you Ademco does not make cctv. Pelco and Bosch make superior CCTV products..cameras and dvrs. It all comes down to what kind of budget your customer has and what your profit percentage is. Pelco and Bosch are pricey. You can go the generic route if you wish. Send me a PM if you need some help.

Re: Residential Security Cameras

I see adverts for camera's with a woman prominant in the ad many times. Usually semi-clad. I believe this is a lure to sell discreet camera equipment to peekers. Good fast way to land in jail and not collect your $200.

Can you post a few specific model names/numbers? I'm interested in 4-8 channel DVR based systems.
