Coaxial Cable And Electric
I have a small project where I have to install a LCD television in a Tray Ceiling. I was just wondering if it is Okay to run the Electric and Cable wire in the same box next to each other. IVe heard that the electric could screw with the cable signal. Im just cutting in a double gangbox in the drywall behind the television. Thanx

Re: Coaxial Cable And Electric
You'd need a low voltage barrier in that box to be NEC compliant. That would necessitate that you choose a box that can accept a low voltage barrier.
Personally, I put the 120 volt power and the low voltage stuff on opposide studs. The latest BICSI standards want 12" between your structured wiring and power when run parallel, and 3" of seperation when run perpendicular. This standard is not a code, nor does it have the force of law anywhere. It is only a standard often referenced in print specs, and a good guideline otherwise. |
