Alarm System With Internet Communicator
Hey there folks! I work for an IT company doing low voltage work, but we don't do alarm systems. BUT, now we're looking to install one at our offices. Well, here's the fun part. Our managers want a system that can not only be cenral station monitored, but also send notifications (call, email, text, etc.) to the managers. Any ideas????

Re: Alarm System With Internet Communicator
Might want to try a forum that deals more with security products.
Dunno if you have DSC down there, but DSC has communicators that do what you ask for. They are limited in their function, but do work. But if you are having the system monitored, I'm pretty sure the whole reason the monitoring company is there is to call the client when there is a problem. Not sure why you would want this emailed instead. |

First, that's hilarious Mickey - you'll have to make me one
![]() Buildinghomes is right on with his post, your central station can (or should be able to) do just that, but if not there is options for having this happen but it's equipment specific... You can add a "dialer" to the system for the phone/pager reporting part, or an IP module for the email part. What's your budget and what brands are you considering (Honeywell/Ademco, DSC, ELK)?? DMP (digital monitor products) will do what your are looking for. You can get software that talks over your network to panels. This panel can hookup to any central station (has Multiple Formats). Your othe option is if you have a card access system (card readers to unlock doors) you can intergrate them with alarm systems and even the cheapest access system should have e-mail notifaction for alarms.

Re: Alarm System With Internet Communicator
Most decent DVR's for Cameras have the ability to send e-mail notifications. Some can be set up to be viewed from a pocket PC or PDA too.
As for the security panel, if it's going to be monitored, that would be something arranged through the monitoring company. If you want something to monitor off site with ease, look into Homelogic, they have a device you would connect to your system allowing you to see what is happening. |
