Re: Work Needed

you may want to check your marketing program before getting up and leave.
You may move, and have to start all over, and be without work still. But now have extra bills to pay.

Next time, advertise hard when you are busy that way you wont get slow downs.

In the meantime, why not look for sub work. Call GCs, other companies, go down the list in phone book. There will be someone willing to give you a chance.
Get out there and get some biz cards out and flyers.

Re: Work Needed

I'm with Matt on this. I notice that posters from Michigan occasionally mention a lack of work and I gotta think that other contractors are closing up shop at this very moment, if it's really that bad. When enough of them leave, things will improve. Meanwhile, you want to eat.

Smart businesses use the slow season as a time to pick up market share. Use Craigslist, hang flyers on doors, join the Chamber of Commerce if the price is right. Heck, I even go to Open Houses and give business cards to the Realtors. It's a slow housing market and sales reps love to talk so they're usually bored outta their minds. The next time I go on an Open House crawl, I'm going to bring a few 4-packs of bottled Starbucks Frappuccino to hand out.
