Tradesman Looking For Work In Chicago

Now, Ive been a sub contractor in the northern suburbs for the last 6 years. But working in the trades for the last 10 years. Bieng non-union I have had my hand in just about everything, but my most exceptional qualities lie in carpentry and HVAC work.

I've recently moved into Humbolt Park (chicago) and have a bit of a hard time finding consistant employment. Most of the good contractors in the area are weary of hiring new workers due to the time of year (winter) and thanks to all of the lazy and drug addict applicants that they usually find.

I am definately one of the rare few men in this city that is full of initiative and "walks the talk." By this I mean that I don't just stand there waiting to be told something to do, I have eyes and can see what needs to be done and know how to do it.

Now you're thinking.... wheres the catch...

There is one big reason why I'm having such a hard time finding work. It is the fact that I had lost my license until July. I am totally willing to work with an employer on my pay due to this circumstance.

Is there anyone in need of an employee with all of his own tools and a lot of experience, and are willing to help with transportation out there?

You went from the northern burbs to humboldt park? That's whuite a change! I think the reason you are having a hard time finding work is because even though that area is being gentrified, it's still low income and everyone is looking for work.

Good luck to you, but you already know it's the name of the game in chicago. It's hard to find a job in winter. I'll keep an ear open for ya.

Yeah, it was a big change of scenery.

Lots of people looking for work out here, but none with my experience and work ethic.

Tried to do my own thing for a while, but everyone was underbidding me. All of the help that I could get my hands on were drug addicts or lazy people just trying to get their 8 hours in. this will put you down real quick.

If only I could find a company that would pair me with an apprentice that drives and has good work ethic. I'll train their man and blow out jobs. What more could you ask for?

I just don't have the room since I have gone back to the subcontractor model. Besides Ace is a trim carpenter... but if had a crew, we could talk.

Re: Tradesman Looking For Work In Chicago

Although I am an excellent trim carpenter, that is not my only area of knowledge and experience.

My qualifications include: blueprint reading and comprehension, Carpentry rough and trim, Hvac design and installation (mostly residential forced air), residential electric rough and trim, minor plumbing rough and trim, and remodeling project management.

I do not have my own crew due to all of the dorks that I've hired when trying to get a start after moving to the city. It is extremely hard to find a good apprentice that shows up every day on time. I need to take some time to rebuild my capital again, to start building a quality crew.

At his point, I would just like to be an employee for a company thats in need of quality, experienced help.

pwrpapa is right, if anyone here in chicago would just try me out, they'll see that I'm just what they're looking for!
