Curious what the pay range would be normally for such a person in LA? Not necessarily for this opening, but generally?

Might know someone that might be interested, I have a few questions. Is the job in California? I notice you say bilingual a plus, will there be travel to another country? The person I know is bilingual, he can speak English and German, is that what you're looking for?

Non union journeyman level electricians in Los Angeles are topping out at about $32 per hour. Non union electrical contractors seem to be pricing their work at $85 per hour when fielding an electrician on a commercial job. For residential wiremen my top rate is $27. I'm a small outfit and offer no bennies.

That sounds very accurate. $27 per is a little on the high side for smaller outfits. Was at my supply house today and there must have been at least a dozen fliers for EC's wanting Journies ASAP. Wondering where all the sparkies have gone.....

All the serious journeymen electricians are members of the Baby Boom generation and are now retiring. There are no new electricians coming in to the trade to take their place. People no longer encourage their children to enter the building trades, instead they point to us and say "see that man, that's why you have to go to college, so you don't wind up like him".

I've been an electrician for 35 years and a electrical contractor for 25. The building trade used to be viewed as a respectable occupation, but today it is considered to be the "employer of last resort" for many.

I live in a million dollar house (in California, so don't get impressed) and the business has been good to me, most of the money was back in the 80's. Today however I would not like to be starting an electrical contracting business in the current economic climate.

I have been wiring very large custom homes and that market continues to be strong.

But obviously you noticed, real electricians are getting harder to find.

Re: Residential Electricians Needed In Los Angeles

Also a electrical contractor in LA (though moved to Glendale AZ) Been electrician for 30 years. I have been through a dozen dumb asses in the last 2 years. Got plenty of work but no one able to do it to my standards. I do custom homes, 3000 + SqFt. Structured wiring, automation, communication, cctv, alarm and home theater & audio. The lack of qualifyed electricians has all but run me out of the state ! Good luck !
