Sounds like a info-mercial to me. Hopefully no one really is going to fall for this , already seen a couple of good people get burned and put themselves and their finances in a bad spot for this Blue Roof money making machine.

Steve cut me a check for 7500.00 and I'll bring 3 fellas and myself, come down and blue tarp as many roofs as humanly possible in 5 12 hour days. Cut me another and I'll stay 5 more. Sorry, but promises ain't going to cut it, to many hands in the cookie jar down there and sooner or later someones going to close the lid.

Re: Millions Of Dollars $$$$$$$ Of Government Disaster Relief Work Waiting To Be Done!

I'm not questioning or arguing with anyone, although I am interested in your reasons for thinking this is a scam.

I'm very interested in the offer and know that FEMA is throwing money around down there. $2000 a week is good pay but not unbelievable for government work, espically for someone to drop there lives and go to Florida for it.

I do question why you wouldnt hire locals for $10 an hour to do the work, nonetheless I'm interested. What makes you skeptical of this? Why is it to good to be true? I'm being serious and not sarcastic, so if any of you have some knowledge about this please let me know.

I am only gonig on the reasearch that I have done I have talked with guys in the flood areas and local contracters in those areas and I know some guys from my old crew that went down. I personally looked into going for about two weeks ,I did nothing but made phone calls and did online inquries, where I live everything is at a stop and I am currently unemployed and thought I would load up and head south but thanks to my wifes pressure I took the time and looked into all the factors and now I am thankful I did.

Right after the last FL hurricane, before the Katrina hit, I posted a toll free number directly to the Army Corpse of Engineers for their blue tarp hiring program.

I heard from someone who did the Blue Tarps after Andrew that he was making $500 per house and each house took about 2 hours plus travel. He was working direct for the Army however, and not a subcontractor.

Up here FEMA promised the world to flooded areas, weeks ago and still have not shelled out a cent. I do not think any money is going to be coming this way now after I see DC is under water.

Re: Millions Of Dollars $$$$$$$ Of Government Disaster Relief Work Waiting To Be Done!

I read this today and thought I would tack it on here in response to the MILLIONS$$$$
Dave
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Hurricane Katrina fraudsters who billed the US government for fictitious services and filed claims for phantom hotel guests and even Dom Perignon champagne have reportedly cost taxpayers up to two billion dollars.

The New York Times said the cost of the fraud in the wake of the deadly storm which hit New Orleans and the surrounding Gulf Coast last August had ballooned to new heights, citing government audits, criminal prosecutions and congressional probes.

A House of Representatives committee heard testimony earlier this month that fraud in the wake of Katrina had cost taxpayers at least one billion dollars.

In one particularly brazen case, prisoners who were jailed when Katrina and a second storm, Hurricane Rita, hit the US southern coast billed the government for rental assistance.

The Times said Katrina had "produced one of the most extraordinary displays of scams (AKA Blue Tarping), schemes and stupefying bureaucratic bungles in modern history, costing taxpayers up to two billion dollars".

It also cited a hotel owner in Sugar Land, Texas charged with submitting 232,000 dollars in bills for phantom victims, and a woman who tried to collect benefits by claiming she watched her two daughters drown in New Orleans. Prosecutors say the children never existed.
