Mason Needed - Good Opportunity

Ok I posted this over in Masonry as I am looking for a the right mason but this is were it should be posted.

So here goes....

I live in Aiken SC (pop. 35,000) which is the fastest growing city in SC due to the historical interest of the town, huge influx of horse people, freezing winters up north, hurricanes down south, and reasonable price of living. Business is booming here to say the least depleting an already low resevoir of talented masons to the point that it is impossible to find anyone. I know because I have been out there trying everything I know of to find qualified masons. Unfortunately the only people out of work are dregs if you know what I mean.

Sooooooo....is there anybody out there that would be interested in moving? We have a booming economy with nice southern winters were you can work 4 days out of 5 in short sleeves.

I am looking for someone to be a job foreman...meaning someone to lead a crew of 1 mason and mudtender while taking on the challenge of completing jobs efficiently and most of all professionally. There are no unions here just unlimited amounts of work. I currently have more work than I can complete and my phone is ringing off of the hook.

Our company does hybrid masonry meaning we pretty much work on the ground doing the specialty work that bigger crews won't touch. We do things like porch rebuilds, patios with brick, pavers and stone, ornamental walls (i have a 15,000 brick wall contracted and no one to do it.) retaining walls, some concrete pours, fireplaces, etc etc etc. I get calls all the time for houses and additions etc. but I have chosen for now to just concentrate on the specialty work.

I started this company doing all the work myself for a couple of years, and 4 months ago hired a brickmason and mudtender. For a couple of months I wore 2 hats of managing the business side and also laying the bricks and running the job. In the last couple of months managing the business, ie doing bids talking with customers, prepping jobs has consumed most of my time not allowing me to manage jobs like I would like. My main brickmason though talented, is not cut out to run jobs...thus my search.

Ok many many more thing to say but I think you get the picture. If anyone might be interested or knows somewho might be interested contact info is below.

Attached are some pictures to give an idea of the kind of work we do.

Thanks
Tim Newcome

Thanks Bob,

That job almost sunk me. Didn't bid enough, and did it all myself including the mudtending so it took waaaay to long. The final product came out real nice though....The only problem is that the homeowner after watching me do all the work put a little "homeade" patio in front of those steps that looked the work of a Jr. Higher on crack cocaine....not good.

Hired brickies are only good in your presence, never equivelent when you're not there

Mr. Newcome. I sent you an email about the job. Maybe you knew my grandfather his name was Larry Morris. He owned Morris masonry which is now owned by his son Allan Morris. Either way its nice to see another person from aiken on here.
