Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area

I have gone on line as a homeowner and tried to find contractors in my area, Grand Rapids/Hollland. I never got a contractor name or phone call but Servicemagic called trying to sell me?! I had legitimate insurance claim damage to my home and could not find any names from SM or anyone else on line.

I like the idea of targeting the lake HO and mailing just them. I do that myself. I think that is more effective than SM or other lead generators in MI. Maybe in Houston SM works better because of population and volume.

The biggest city in driving distance from me is probably about 10,000 people and thats in indiana. So there isnt a whole lot of people in my area. I figured servicemagic would be the best lead service because they seem to have the most advertising but they sound like crooks. Im not in a good financial situation right now so a money scam isnt something I need.

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area

Yeah Mike watch yourself with using them, they tried to stick it to me, When I signed up with them I told them I did plaster and drywall cause I didn't have my builders license yet and in our state there is No License for these two trades, they told me I could also do paint stripping, I said fine, so within two days they said they sent me 8 leads to my email, then they billed my credit card $75.00, I hadn't even opened the emails to see if it was anything I wanted to bid on. I called them and ask them what was the deal, I told them I didn't have a License to do painting over $600.00, they told "oh yes you do we pulled your License and we have it listed on our site" I checked it out and sure enough they had me listed with a builders license, I called them and asked how the hell did they come up with a license since I hadn't even taken the test yet?
I went around and around with them, well I stopped payment on their $75.00 I also checked to see who's license they had pulled up and there is a guy in Holland who has the same name as me other then his middle name was different, even tho they had my company name and address they still used this guys license just to try and get me to pay them $75.00, Service Magic are nothing more then CROOKS
Over on Building Trades Community a guy who worked for them posted about how they sell one lead like 8 to 10 times, they are a rip off company, you think the Government would doing something about the Fraud they are pulling on contractors.

If you know some one at hud check and see if the 203k loans are being pushed out there.

The banks are steering consumers who are buying homes that are forclosures or need smaller renovations.

Usually 10-30K worth of work. Can be larger amounts. 35K an under uses a modify draw form 50% down 50% upon completion
