Looking For Work In The MI Area
Looking for work in any areas of construction. I can have my crew, or just me. I have been in the constuction business for over 10 years and have all the tools to complete any job. I am fully insured and have a full list of references. I am willing to travel any where for work. If you need pictures of work I have completed, I have a full book of them that I can email to you. Please give me a call at 616-862-8881. Thank You

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
Hey I hope you got your builders license cause if you get caught working in Michigan without one now you'll be looking at a $25,000 fine and 2 years in prison. Jenny Grandhole doesn't want anyone working with out a license, oh yeah don't forget you have to take 60 class hours of Prelicensing classes at $750.00 for them, then not to forget the $100.00 for the test and then another $225.00 for your license if you pass the test, also don't forget that all the laid off auto workers are now contractors in their spare time

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
You can get the school and classes from the State website, they have everything posted there to get enrolled in the classes. www.michigan.gov then click on Labor&Economic Growth then just follow the links. Be prepaired to pay out $750.00 for the class then $100.00 to take the test and then another $225.00 for your license. Thanks to the Governor for all the increases in fees, and these classes have some good points but most of it is the same stuff you deal with almost every day in construction. So if you have been in the trade for some time it will be a breeze. good luck

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
Remember the days when all it took to get a builders lincse in MI was taking a test? We all know many shop rats that worked at GM during the day and turned builder on the weekend. We also have to take refresher courses to keep the license current. The classes have not started yet. My brother is going to teach them here in Bay City.

Dont you need like 21 hours of class? Im sure they will wait and have a class 1 month before my license expires instead of spreading it over 3 years.

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
There are 60 class hours, which you have to attend, if you miss any class you have to make it up. we had our classes at Walsh College, we had classes on Tues and Thurs nights and Saturdays all day, but it was only 4 weeks went by fast, I have sent for my criminal history from the state cause they want all this info be sent in to Lansing before you can take the test. I sent it out before Thanksgiving and I have yet to hear from the State. I guess they are going to F&*^ me over like they did in 1998 when I pass their F(*& Test and then they dicked around for 11 months and two weeks before they said my student loans were all paid up, then when I sent this stuff into the State. they wrote me telling me I was to late, so Sorry No License for you! THta's why I say F*&^ a License in this State. if you have any kind of record you aint gonna get a Builders License or M&A License cause they don't want you working!

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
I'm here in northern IN and have on occasion done a few masonry jobs in MI. Do I as a masonry sub need a liscence to work in MI? Just wondering because if so it would hardly be worth it for me.

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
Detroit thanks, the way the New Laws read, anyone doing Repairs, Demolistion, Alterations, Remodeles, or Builds has to have a License. Unless your a Employee not a sub contractor. subs have to have a License from now on. This Governor and the Democrats want that money from all Contractors. That's why if you get caught two times your going to Prison for 2 to 5 years.
![]() I just contacted the State about my forms I sent in this past November and they haven't got back to me. I have to call again this morning. |

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
Esterline, I am in Holland MI suffering along with everyone else in the state. Jobs are out there but prices are way down and tons of people looking. I am leaving the state. Had to do the same thing in '82 when things were just as bad or worse. Advertise and hit the streets to meet and greet. other people on this site have good ideas so just read the threads.
The state government here gives a ____ about us small business people and make this the worst state of 50 to be a small business. Now our Senator Stabenow is making her big thing the "Fairness Doctrine". Hey Debbie, what about all the UHauls going one way from MI? But I digress. |

Re: Looking For Work In The MI Area
Yeah Mike, I should the only thing is my skin color is wrong, didn't you see the video on youtube.com about Reich and Congressman Rangle of New York, they want to remove ALL SKILLED WHITE WORKERS and give their jobs to people of Color
So I don't think Obama gives a rats azz about any white guy.
