2nd Year Apprentice Carpenter, Looking To Relocate

Hi,
Im 23 years old, living in montreal and looking to work elsewhere. I have more than 3000 hours of experience in general carpentry, framing, exterior and interior covering. I already got my 2nd year apprenticeship tickets. I worked in residential as well in commercial. I know a lot of contractors are reading this, so maybe it could interest someone. I've been working hard theses last years and im willing to continue this way.

I'd say don't go to California. Unemployment is over 10% in some parts of the state. Each of the local unions have around 1,000 carpenters on the out-of-work lists. Residential is dead. Commercial is barely hanging on and the state is out of money and is shutting down all state funded jobs. There's going to be about 200,000 more people out of work very soon. The state doesn't have the money to give people their tax refunds either and all those people out of work on unemployment won't be getting anything either.

Every contractor I talk to is laying people off. Not just small ones, the big ones too. I just talked to friend yesterday who's neighbor is a contractor and he just laid-off guys yesterday. I could go on and on about the dire straights, but I'll save you the agony.
