Re: Whats The Most Expensive Deck You've Built

I'm lucky to be in a good market where really big projects come around from time to time. The biggest single project for me was at Nortel Networks and it was a $347,000 job. It wasn't anything real fancy just big with walkways winding thru the woods connecting buildings with over look decks. Must have had a mile of rail. Seriously. The most interesting part was a huge wagon wheel type trellis.
It was before I started Peachtree or I'd post photos. Commercial projects have for sure been the biggest with a few residential jobs over a $100k

We do average pretty sizable jobs here but again we've been lucky and it's a good market......usually........this year's been more interesting than I'd have cared for.

Re: Whats The Most Expensive Deck You've Built

We did not build it but supplied materials. $250k for patio above 23rd floor penthouse over looking ocean. The actual deck was fairly small, but included a bridge across "a meandering 50 ft stream"! On the 23rd floor! Them's that have money.......

Re: Whats The Most Expensive Deck You've Built

what do i win,

we did 97000 sqft of decking over the last 12months on 400 aparment project.

every aparment had a small deck plus we had three huge roof tops.

check out there webpage if you think i am joking.

http://www.triosydney.com.au/trio/default.asp?sID=49

we are starting 10000sqft after xmas, timber on steel joists, we just finshed 3000sqft of composite on steel joists last week and we have 2200sqft to start in feb which is around an indoor pool on level 8 of apartment building.

Re: Whats The Most Expensive Deck You've Built

As a contractor, business owner and homeowner too, I am always shocked at the price of things. Materials alone are just plain crazy. When you add labor and the TRAIN that follows your labor cost (workers comp. liability insirance, employers share of social security, unemployment taxes, employeee health care, vacations and other benefits directly connected to labor), you have no choice but to add these into each job you bid.

Its just amazing to me how much we have to charge just to make a reasonable profit. Homeowners don't believe you though. They all think you are getting rich off them.

CHEERS!
