TT Radiance Rail Kit Help

Im using this kit for the first time and I have two sections under 3', can I buy just the mounting brackets and use one 6' kit for both smaller sections or do I have to buy two kits?

Any other install tips would be helpful also.

Thanks,
Curt

Yes. The mounting bracket hardware bags are $10-15 and allow you to make multiple sections from a single kit.

Thanks, I had forgotten to ask my sales guy when I was getting prices earlier this afternoon.

Speaking of prices, Do you know of a similar white railing system that is more reasonably priced? The project i'm working on isnt even very large but the cost of the TT railing is crazy to me, and my customer is set on white vinyl railing.

You get what you pay for. TT Radiance is the best and nicest system out there. PVC is not even in the same league. Seriously.

Trex sells a rail system that is very similar, I actually think it looks a little better, odd to say that about a trex product, ha. I think they call it radiance rail, should be available at just about any HD.

Trex Artisan Series Railing comes in a white color - I think that's what you're talking about, Deckman. Check out the display before you buy, the baluster spacer snap rail seems kinda chincy...

Yeah, I was just looking at their literature and I dont like the looks of that system, seems like a crappy design to me, in comparison to the TT radiance anyways.

I would like to use the TT but it puts me way over budget. I'm ending up using cedar posts and rails with black belly balusters.

Yeah you got that right. Hollow balusters that don't screw into anything just those strips that have holes in them that snap in the rail piece. The stairs were a major pita to put together, however it did look really nice once done. I did it for a builder who bought all the stuff so I don't know the pricing on it, but the guy said it was super expensive. Also you have to buy what they call an "installation tool" that of course doesn't come with the rail kits. It's just a template for putting on the rail brackets.

I don't know how Trex stays in business. They sell junk. They have a gazillion product defects and continually ignore them. They have brand recognition, but that's about it as far as I'm concerned.

Trex is a product I will not install even if the customer wants it. That's how strongly I feel about it. I'd rather walk than have my name attached to a Trex project. Some of you love it, I know. Maybe I'm a snob, but I hear 10 bad things about Trex for every, uh, let see, uh, crap. I never actually heard someone knowledgeable say a good thing about it.

My salesman tried pushing Trex on me today when I went to order the TT for my upcoming job. The TT was out of stock and couldnt be gotten for 2 weeks, I said no way to the Trex and ended up going with Evergrain. They now have a grooved board for hidden fasteners.

I would have loved to wait on the TT but but my customer wants the deck done by Labor day.
