TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
Will be using hidden fasteners but XLM doesn't have a starter strip. I really don't want to have screws showing along the house. Is that my only option or has anyone had success using another method such as cutting off one of the sides of the hidden fastener? Would appreciate any advice. I just don't like the idea of 600 sq ft of clear deck (no screws showing) and then have screws along the house.

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
Do the new Cortex drill and plug system from Fastenmaster on the outer boards.

Predrill and run screws up from beneath to hold house-side edge.

The Trex Hideaway HFS is basically the same thing, and they have special start/stop clips.

I screw the first board from the top and use the best color matched screws I can find. Model paint can be your best friend with some colors.
My contract states "....using HFS. Please note some screws will be visible" Covers all the bases. Never had an issue or complaint.

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
On the first board my rep told me to drill through the groove at a 45 and put a screw in. Works very well.

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
Wolf, we're talking about the first board laid next to the house parallel to the house wall. How can you run a screw through the grooved edge when there's a house in the way?

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
Yes I run the facia up to the top edge of the decking. I am talking about the outer edge board. Sorry for the confusion. I start from the outer edge and work to the house.

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
So the question begs, do you face screw that last board you install? The one closest to the house...

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
Same as you posted above up from bottom if possible. Otherwise color match and face screw as Greg said.

Re: TT CONCEALoc Hidden Fasteners
I know what your saying and thats being pretty picky. Its still very good and the pvc boards that were smooth were hidden real well.
