Timber Costs?

I notice that you guys use a lot of hardwood & synthetic decking, which doesn't seen common in the UK.

Its available at a few timber merchants at a price. Hardwood especially seems far too expensive a material for most of my marketplace.

I'm wondering about relative timber costs UK/USA.

I pay the equivilant to $1.00 a foot for scandinavian softwood deck boards and $1.11 a foot for treated 6 x 2 sawn C16 timber. Those are good prices around here.

How does that compare with the other side of the pond?
